The Bancroft Betterment met last night at 5:15 pm in the B-R school library. Lisa Hurley from Northeast Economic Development talked about the programs that they have available. She shared some ideas about what other communities were doing to develop housing, including TIF financing. The community housing survey was also discussed.
The consensus was to move forward with the planning grant. The income surveys will be redone for all residents to take advantage of 2011 income guidelines. A letter explaining that will accompany the survey along with the chance for everyone who returns a survey to enter a drawing for three cash prizes. The surveys will be run through Cuming County Economic Development office.
Once the attitude surveys are tabulated, a town hall meeting will be held to allow community residents an opportunity for input.
The Betterment group hopes for the support of the community as we attempt to improve the housing in Bancroft.
