The 34th annual Nebraska Sertoma Eight-Man All-Star football game will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Osborne Family Sports Complex in Hastings.
Ten all-staters are on the East team, whose head coach is Friend's Jim Pfeiffer. Four rushed for more than 1,400 yards a year ago: Clayton Moore (2,179) of Friend, Derreck Eastman (1,880) of Giltner, Cody Stalp (1,559) of West Point Central Catholic and Matthew Stansberry (1,477) of Bancroft-Rosalie.
Other all-staters on the East squad are quarterbacks Michael Koehler of Osmond and Dwight Hanzel of Humphrey, Howells linebacker Cory Brester, West Point Central Catholic lineman Jonny Hagedorn, Pawnee City lineman Michael Marr and center Zachary McPhillips of Humphrey St. Francis.
The West, coached by Kenesaw's Craig Schnitzler, features Mullen running back Zach Call, who gained 2,328 yards last year and 5,272 in his career. Other all-staters on the squad are quarterbacks Jacob Jensen of Overton and Djorn Dunlap of Eustis-Farnam, Alma running back Jay Kindler, Overton end Zach Olmstead and Loomis center Damon Steinbrink.
