BRLD BOARD COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
October 9,
2019
At
Lyons-Decatur School Library
7:00 PM
(This meeting was held in October to
allow the BRLD renewal process to take place prior to signing up for NSAA
Football in November)
In attendance: B-R – Jon Cerny, Mike Sjuts, Matt Kai, Mike
Nottleman, Pat Browning and Pam Browning; LDNE – Fred Hansen, Weston Swanson,
Bruce Knaak, Trevor Preston, Corey Petersen, Evan Myers and Jaime Bacon
Old Business:
1. Purchase the FAT Track
System Mr. Hansen spoke with Jeff Smith
from OC, about the FAT timing system today.
OC submitted a grant on Oct. 1, was hoping to hear back if they got the
grant. We need to make it clear to OC
that it is 2 schools putting in the money and not 3 Schools. Need to try to make it paid for 50-50 or at
least negotiate 60-40.
2. Report on Summer Camps Think it all
went well. Nothing different for the
next summer. Would we like to have a
“formal” statement that the week of the 4th of July off. We think coaches have been doing this
already.
3. Report on multi-sport participation 9 Letterman
winner and 12 sport participation certificates.
Will be handed out at Athletic Banquet
4. Guidelines for Junior High Practices – number
of practices and practice times (JH Girls’ BB) Will start JH GBB and JH Wrestling
in December to help give more practice time before games/tournament start in
January.
5. Tournament/Playoff game Hosting Discussion was
made where we might host a game if BRLD host.
Since LD hosted FB in 2018, if BRLD hosts in 2019, first game would be
in Bancroft. Rotate other sports as
well. i.e. in BB, BRLD boys were in
Bancroft in 2018-19, so next boys at LD.
GBB was at LD, so next girls game would be Bancroft.
New Business:
1. Report of Principal/Athletic Directors
meeting
A. Upcoming BRLD Enrollment for 20-21 and 21-22 handout was
discussed about enrollment. With projected numbers. Projections show girls will more than likely
move to C1 and boys as well. Will
possibly move to C1 in FB for 2 years starting in 2022-23.
B. BRLD Coop renewal agreement approval Talked/agreed that Superintendent
will just “e-sign” without talking at BOE meeting. Formal BOE vote is not needed for renewal of
COOP.
C. 2019-20 Coaching assignments Added JH VB coach (see item D and E)
as well as adding Girls golf. Will have
to decide when JH GBB have meeting if we will add another coach for them.
D. Added JH girls VB coach (SEE ABOVE)
E. Possibility of adding a coach in JH girls BB (SEE ABOVE)
F. Football - ordered 4 new goal post pads to
share between fields
H. Uniform

already ordered for use in 2019-2020
-
Varsity volleyball order in spring of 2020 to use in 2020-2021
- Girls Basketball 2021
- Boys Basketball 2022
-- NEN Viper
Coop coming up. Would like to possibly
add Lyons’s field for use for practices/games.
Need to have approval from the Summer Sports Board. Will need to talk to other schools in Coop as
well to see if they would approve.
--Possibly adding Fine Arts into Coop. More talk would need to be made and talk to
coaches, etc. before anything is done.
--Have had Community members have approached both
school’s AD, about gym mats and changing things over to BRLD colors, mascots,
etc. Maybe it could be something the BRLD
Booster Club would be willing to chip in.
Will get quotes to see costs.
--Mike ordered Championship Banner for State
BB. Also State Qualifying banners for
both schools.
