Bancroft-Rosalie invited to join East Husker Conference for next year

The East Husker Conference plans to expand from 14 to 16 teams for the 2013-14 school year. Madison joined the East Husker earlier this year and Bancroft-Rosalie is set to become the 16th member.

Bancroft-Rosalie would be in the small school Elkhorn division with Lyons-Decatur, Pender, Humphrey, Clarkson-Leigh, Scribner-Snyder, Howells-Dodge and Oakland-Craig. To be eligible for the regular season title B-R would have to play all seven teams in the Elkhorn division.

The large school Platte division would include West Point-Beemer, Wisner-Pilger, Tekamah-Herman, Logan View, Twin River (Genoa-Silver Creek), Madison, Stanton, and North Bend.

Here are my reasons for changing conferences:
- The difference in distance to play teams in the L & C compared to the East Husker.
- The crowds will be better for home games against closer East Husker opponents.
- All of our co-oped sports are with East Husker teams (Wisner-Pilger, Lyons-Decatur, West Point-Beemer, and Pender), we have established positive working relationships with these schools.
- B-R is the only Lewis and Clark school that is served by Educational Service Unit 2, whereas the majority of the East Husker schools are in ESU 2. ESU administrators and schools work closely together on many projects and programs.
