What are Jicama sticks?

Jicama sticks are a radiah-like vegetable that elementary students may be trying this year as part of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program. This program provides Bancroft-Rosalie Elementary School with $7516 this school year to make fruit and vegetable snacks available to students during the school day. We plan to provide the snacks in the afternoons between activitiy periods.
A goal is to expand the variety of fruits and vegetables children experience. That is where the Jicama sticks come in. Since Jicama has very little flavor, the students will have ranch dip to make them a little more palatable. The fruits may include pomegranates, kiwi, papaya, and star fruit.
