Bancroft-Rosalie School Board meeting summary

The Bancroft-Rosalie Board of Education met Monday, July 14, 2014 at 7:30 pm in Bancroft. Superintendent Cerny presented the June transportation report, NeSA results, and the professional development plan for 2014-15. Principal Sjuts presented information on handbook changes for 2014-15 and athletic schedules. The Building and Grounds committee discussed the need to repair the Rosalie gym roof. In new business, the board approved the agreement with Lyons-Decatur to coop all junior high sports in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years. The board gave final approval to new policies on high school credit for middle school courses; student participation in athletic contests between schools; and a tobacco policy. The amended policies on attendance and excessive absenteeism; concussions; student discipline; the safe pupil transportation plan; and procedures for bidding construction projects were all given final approval. A new policy on Use of Physical Restraint/Seclusion Techniques was given first approval. The board named First National Bank as the official bank for the general fund and Citizens Bank for all other funds, named the Wisner News-Chronicle as the official newspaper, selected Harding and Ogborn as legal council, and set hot lunch prices and class enrollment limits. Annual hearings were held to discuss the Student Fee Policy, the Parent Involvement Policy, and the Bullying policy. All three were adopted without changes were adopted without changes. In other new business, the board reviewed the school census and the list of bus drivers, van drivers, substitute teachers, and substitute paraprofessionals. A bid for boiler repairs from Rasmussen Mechanical Services for $5610.
