CNN will air a special on August 30th about Education. The special, Soledad O'Brien's Great Expectations: A Black in America Special, will visit Harvest Prep/Seed Academy in Minneapolis where Direct Instruction is utilized.
Direct Instruction is a scientifically-based instructional program used in Bancroft-Rosalie Elementary School. This special will demonstrate how Direct Instruction can provide high academic achievement with students from low income families- generally low achievers. High achievement is what we want from all of our students. When Direct Instruction is used in a system, like ours, that provides for acceleration of higher performing students, the result is students that are further along in their learning than peers in other schools.
