Virtual Reality is one of the newest tools being deployed in today's classrooms to assist in the explanation of complex subject matters. Recently the EMT Class at P2T (Pathways 2 Tomorrow) in West Point began using the Oculus VR system to explore human anatomy, specifically how the different body systems and organs work together to maintain homeostasis. 

P2T Health Science Teacher and EMS Instructor Daniel Bridges says that students have been excited about using virtual tools and training to really get a better look at the human body. Bridges says the students can gain a much deeper level of understanding of anatomy in his classrooms by using the VR system.

ACT announces testing changes

The ACT’s recently announced changes, effective September 2020, are all good news for students.

Single Section Retesting will allow students to retake just one or two or three sections, rather than the entire four-section, nearly four-hour test. Students will be able to focus on just the sections they wish to retake—no need to retake the English Section if you already have, and are satisfied with, a 35 in English.

Superscoring will ensure that all colleges will consider the composite score derived from the best subscores, whether occurring on the same test or not. Although many colleges are already superscoring their applicants’ ACT results, now all will, which should increase average composite scores.

Choose between online testing and traditional paper testing on national test dates should allow students to receive scores about ten days sooner, which can help with application strategies and future testing plans. Right now the school has to pick one method or the other for all of their students, and we have been going with the traditional paper test because we don't want any issues with technology (electricity goes off, etc) impacting a students test scores.

Northeast Nebraska Vipers Softball District Finals Friday vs Omaha Gross

NEN Vipers vs Omaha Gross Friday in Omaha to see who goes to state. Game times and location will be announced later today. The winner of the District Finals qualifies for the state softball tournament. District Finals are best 2 out of 3.

Two golfers qualify for state

The TC Thunder Girls Golf team competed at District golf in Battle Creek Monday. The team placed fifth. State qualifiers are Emma Beutler (6th place) and Jazzmin Nolze (5th place). Both girls will represent us at the State Meet in North Platte on October 14 and 15. The Thunder are coaches by Bob Rainer and Paige Mestl.

B-R School Board members receive awards

The Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB), Board of Directors and staff, recognized the 2019 Award of Achievement recipients during the Norfolk Area Meeting on Wednesday, September 25, 2019.

NASB is a private, nonprofit organization that serves the needs of Nebraska public school districts and Educational Service Unit board members.  Nebraska’s 1,700 school board members from across the state may participate in board development training throughout the year by attending workshops and conferences to help strengthen their role in governance, legislative advocacy, and stewardship of district resources in support of student achievement.  In recognition of their volunteer time and commitment to education, the Association commends continued participation and growth in knowledge and best practice governance.  Through the Awards of Achievement program, the following board members were recognized at the meeting for their outstanding excellence:

On To College Day

The Bancroft-Rosalie Senior Class participated Thursday in Apply2College, an event promoted by the EducationQuest Foundation.  As a part of the campaign the 17 members of this year’s senior class completed 45 college applications to 20 different schools.

To promote the event, seniors competed in trivia contests, which used information about B-R staff members’ college activities.  Questions also focused on advice staff members had for seniors as they prepare to head off to college.  One the day of the event, each staff member wore a shirt from his or her alma mater.
