Summer School July 21- August 7

Summer school recommendation letters were mailed yesterday to students in grades pre-8.

We would like parents to let us know by this Friday if you plan to send your student to summer school so that we can plan accordingly.

During summer school, students will review and practice skills in math and/or reading in order to prepare them for the beginning of the new school year. Each student will follow an individual plan that will be developed by their teachers focusing on the needs of the student. In some cases K-6 we are recommending entire reading groups attend so that the group can catch up and join another reading group.

Students that scored below the school benchmark on the Nebraska State Assessments are automatically recommended for summer school. This is the reason for students in grades 7-8 were sent letters.

Classes will meet for twelve days, Monday through Thursday beginning July 21. The following are summer school dates and times:

July 21-22-23-24                        8:15-   11:45 am
July 28-29-30-31                        8:15-   11:45 am
August 4-5-6-7                           8:15-   11:45 am

Students can ride the bus/van that will leave Rosalie at 8:00 am and will leave Bancroft at 11:50 am returning to Rosalie at 12:00 noon.

Jerrica Tietz wins Congressional Art Competition for second time

Jerrica Tietz will be traveling to Washington DC again this summer to be recognized at an awards ceremony for winning the Congressional Art Competition for congressional District One. She was notified by Congressman Jeff Fortenberry's office that her drawing won.

Brianna Wegner was named Honorary Distinction for her drawing.

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.

Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.
