Information on school addition

Here is the news article I am submitting to the West Point and Wisner papers this week providing information on the school addition.

Bancroft-Rosalie student Education Quest Survey

A survey was given to all Bancroft-Rosalie high school students at the end of the year to assess student satisfaction with the education quest program. Education Quest provided $5000 each year for the past four years with the goal to increase the number of graduates that go on to college. College includes both two year and four year schools as well as technical training programs.

Based on these results, the Education Quest program has been effective at informing students about the importance of attending college. There seems to be a need for parents to talk about with their children about paying for college, particularly if the family is saving money for college.

New Teachers at B-R

Here is some information about the new teachers working at Bancroft-Rosalie School this Fall.

 Breanna Beutler- Elementary Special Education
Breanna is a Bancroft-Rosalie alum, class of 2007. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in May 2011, majoring in Elementary and Special Education. Breanna was employed last year as a Behavior Disorder teacher K-5 at Harney Elementary in South Sioux City.

 Antonia Hennig- Speech/Language Technician and Reading
Toni is a Bancroft-Rosalie alum, class of 2007. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2011, majoring in Communication Disorders.

Stephanie Henry- Science grades 7-10
Stephanie received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Briar Cliff University in May 1996, majoring in Biology and Psychology. She received her Master of Arts in Science Education from Western Governor's University in December 2011. Stephanie was employed as a library associate at St. Luke's College in Sioux City since 2000, providing information literacy instruction to nursing students.

Lindzie Munderloh- Preschool
Lindzie is a Bancroft-Rosalie alum, class of 2005. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Wayne State College in May 2009, majoring in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. Lindzie was employed as a preschool teacher at Oakland-Craig Public Schools since August 2009.

 Jessica McPhillips- Fifth Grade
Jessica received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Wayne State College in May 2012, majoring in Elementary Education. She recently completed her student teaching last spring at Wakefield Community Schools.

Viktor Sundleaf- K-12 Music
Viktor received his Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2012, majoring in K-12 Music Education. He recently completed his student teaching last spring at Lincoln North Star High School.

Bancroft Movie in the Park

Eighth grade students to get i pads

This fall the B-R eighth grade students will be using i-pads instead of the netbooks they used last year. The netbooks have been used three years, which was their expected life. There are enough netbooks in good condition for use by seventh grade. Since the school has moved to Mac computers, the I-pads were selected for use in junior high. The cost will be $347 for the I-pad II with wi-fi. The I-pads will be stored in a charging cart and students will pick them up from the library in the morning and return them to the cart before they go home.

Eric Browning to play in 8 man all-star football game tomorrow

The eight man all-star football game will be held at the Hastings College Football Complex on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 1:30 PM. Eric Browning was selected to the east squad. Other local players include Zach johnson from Pender, Zach Wietfeld from Guardian Angels Central Catholic, Trent Mastny and Jordan Brichacek from Howells, and Isaac Jessen from Emerson-Hubbard. The all-star game supports the Nebraska Sertoma Vision and Hearing program.
