Bancroft-Rosalie Elementary receives Wes Becker School of Excellence Award

An important feature of the National Institute For Direct Insruction is to celebrate success–the success of students, teachers and entire schools.
This year Bancroft-Rosalie Elementary School has been chosen to receive the Wes Becker School of Excellence Award. 
This award is named after Wesley Becker, co-creator of Direct Instruction and longtime Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Oregon. The award is given to a school for exemplary implementation of Direct Instruction.
An awards ceremony will take place at the National DI Conference in Eugene the evening of Tuesday, July 26.

Night Custodian/Van Driver opening

Due to the lack of applicants for the Night Custodian/Bus Driver position, Bancroft-Rosalie School is re-opening applications for a Night Custodian/Van Driver.

Assistant Custodian
Bancroft-Rosalie School is seeking applications for an Night Custodian/Van Driver. This position will be a 40 hour work week, 52 weeks a year. Benefits include single insurance, sick leave, and paid vacation.
Duties will include housekeeping and after practice van driving. Position will begin August 1, 2016.

Ty Hermelbract wins State Championship in Team Roping- Headed to Nationals in Gillette, Wyoming

Ty Hermelbracht, a senior at Bancroft-Rosalie, won the High School Team Roping State Championship this past weekend in Waterloo, Iowa. His riding partner is Dalton Wieneke of West Point.
As champions, the two won saddles, buckles and scholarships and qualified for nationals in Gillette, Wyo., July 17-24. This is Hermelbracht’s fifth time qualifying for nationals.

Hunter Safety in Bancroft July 25-28

Hunter Safety will be taught at the Bancroft-Rosalie School building the evenings of July 25-28 from 6:00-9:00 pm.
John Ross will be the instructor.  
This course will be for ages 11-16. Sign up for the class by calling the Bancroft-Rosalie School at 402-648-3336.
Successful completion of a Firearm Hunter Education course is required for all Nebraska hunters age 12 through 29 who hunt any species with a firearm or air gun.
Hunters must carry proof of successful completion of a hunter education course while hunting. Proof may be in the form of a valid permit containing the hunters’ Firearm Hunter Education or a Hunter Education card or certificate issued by a recognized state agency.

Bancroft-Rosalie School Board News

The Bancroft-Rosalie Board of Education met Monday, June 13, 2016 at 7:30 pm
in Bancroft. 
Superintendent Cerny presented the May transportation report, a dual credit report, and possible changes for National Honor Society and Graduation with Honors.
In old business the board gave final approval to the school homeless policy.
In new business, the board reviewed the Food Service Program, approved the use of the
sick leave bank by two teachers, were informed on the new Assistant Cook and re-advertising 
the night custodian position with van driving, not bus driving.

Nebraska Career Education and Innovation Foundation

I was recently appointed to the Board of Directors for the Nebraska Career Education and Innovation Foundation. The Foundation works to provide opportunities for investment in Nebraska's workforce through collaborative and innovative career education programs and partnerships.
The Foundation has a Marketing campaign to boost interest in becoming teachers, particularly Career Education teachers. The Marketing program has the slogan Teach To Your Power, to attract the attention of middle school and high school students to the education profession. "Be a Superhero in the Classroom."
